Thursday is the New Friday (this week at least)

Four things for ya’ll today :)

First and foremost, Happy Birthday to Anne (aka gracious_anne)! I hope it’s been fantabulous :)

Second, I have the next three days off of work and I’m ecstatic! Sure, tomorrow is going to be spent trying on brides maids dresses which I’m not exactly ready for, but it will be nice to see my sister and she’ll be trying on wedding dresses too so hopefully it won’t be all that bad. If pictures turn out okay, I’ll be sure to share. Plus, there are plans to go to a Haunted House Saturday with our neighbors and I really hope we actually end up doing so. It’s been too long since I’ve been to a Haunted House and the last time I went to the one we’re going it was AWESOME!

Third, what makes me even MORE ecstatic (and has been all week) is that I’m now part of a crit group along with Heather (aka edgyauthor (who was already my crit partner)) and Patricia (aka poseiwriting). We’re currently calling ourselves “The Ring,” though I’m not sure that will hold? Heather’s comment behind it sold me completely though… and I quote: “When people ask, “What, like the movie?” we can respond in our best creepy-voice, “No, SCARIER, because we’re WRITERS.”” It’s so true!

Anyway, I’m super stoked to have a solid support ring and hope that it only encourages me more to finally finish this darn novel and release it to them. Their excitement over just the synopsis means the world to me and I really hope to not disappoint in the end!

Fourth, yesterday Rachel Hawkins (author of the HEX HALL series) announced an ARC giveaway for DEMONGLASS (HEX HALL Book 2) HERE in honor of “Small Son’s” 5th Birthday. I entered (naturally) and you should too! The cover is awesome and I already read book 1 and LOVED it – one of my favorite books of the year honestly. You won’t be disappointed. The contest is only open to the US (sorry everybody else), but there are 5 ARC’s being given away and all you have to do is hit enter to win on Goodreads.

Alright, that’s all for the night. Now I really need to try and finish this Halloween short story so I can actually post it in the next three days for you guys!

Peace – Sarah

P.S. A really inappropriate plot bunny will NOT leave me alone these days. That ever happen to you guys? Something you DEFINITELY wouldn’t write following you around like a sick puppy?

Haha, I know I just sent you an email saying I was going to sleep, but how could I not comment on this post?!

There’s no way you’re going to disappoint, your stuff is awesome. I am so excited about our group, you and Heather really are the best, and I’m so lucky to have such A-W-E-S-O-M-E crit partners! (YaY, crit partner gushing! *group hug!*)

So excited to see your Halloween story!! Since SOME of us have to work tomorrow (at least for half the day) maybe you could send it so SOME of us have something to read. *hint, hint*

Also, if you tell me what your inappropriate bunny is trying to corrupt you into writing I’ll forgive you for having tomorrow off. 😛

Hmmm… so I opened the Halloween story – currently titled “The Girl at the Playground” and uh… did nothing, but play online. I suck right now. I don’t even know why I’m delaying. I already know how it ends. It’s not a matter of the words not coming to me. It’s just sheer laziness (and the fact that I’m still listening to a hip hop song that is totally not helping the tone of the story, eh).

When I get home tomorrow I WILL work on it. I really need to. I hate rushing things at the last minute. Even if I were to finish it at the last minute I’d likely not post it just because it was rushed, whether it was actually good or not. I could send what I have, but I’m not sure it’s even worth the read yet. ::Sigh::

*Group Hug* You know me, the “lovey” one, loves that. I’m a huge hugger. One of those that hugs instead of giving hand shakes. Hehe.

As for the plot bunny… I’m not even sure I can let the idea escape my mouth (or fingers) that’s how bothered I am that I have it. I’m ashamed to even be thinking such inappropriate thoughts that’s how bad it is. That ever happen to you?

The Ring. That’s a great name for your critic group! (of course my brain associates The Ring with the Ring from the Lord of the Rings and not the horror movie, but whatever)

Have fun at the Haunted House. I went to a Haunted warehouse thing once and it was terrifying. In a good way. I think I nearly broke my sister’s fingers trying to keep her with me and still running towards the exit at the same time.

And yes, I have random plot bunnies that spring up and are rather unsavory but intriguing or just plain inappropriate.
I might have to write one and stick it in a drawer to dry out and die one day, but others are calling.

You know, for as much as I liked the Lord of the Rings the thought never even occurred to me. We all automatically went with the horror flick (I think, I guess I shouldn’t speak for us all, but no one else mentioned Lord of the Rings).

Yeah, even though they scare me I love Haunted Houses and it’s been far too long since I’ve visited one so hopefully I’ll have a good story to tell when/if we actually go.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s mind can muster up something so against their normal thoughts. It’s been pressing on me all week and today it went into full fledged – PAY ATTENTION TO ME! – and of course I said no, but that didn’t stop it from playing itself like a movie all day to distract me. It’s so wrong.

You’re going to a Haunted House? Very cool! (Although I’d be way too chicken to go to one myself, haha.)

And YAY CRIT GROUP!!! I’m super-excited, too (obviously), enough so to be distracted from homework more than usual. (Sorry, homework.) And I doubt you’ll disappoint us. You’re a ringer, after all–that makes us all awesome by default. 😛

Good luck finishing that Halloween story! It’s crazy how fast the 31st seems to be approaching…

P.S. I get inappropriate plot bunnies, too. (Except mine come in the guise of monkeys, as you well know by now. XD) Everything I write is fantasy, but there’s this one contemporary that sometimes tries to goad me into writing it. Crazy contemporary!

I hope I’m going to a Haunted House, which is actually in 3 parts – a Haunted Hayride, a Den of Darkness, and Crazy Asylum. I’m just hoping my neighbors don’t bail on us cause I really want to go.

“The Ring” has me all sorts of distracted too, but that’s an obvious sign that I’m excited about it so I’m glad I’m not the only one 😉 Fun times lie ahead for us, I can’t wait!

RE: Inappropriate Plot Bunnies (aka Monkeys)… I get different types of genre ideas all of the time. Like I have a whole series of stories I started that aren’t fantasy at all – just romances, but this latest idea actually goes against my moral grain and I just can’t make it go away. Kind of freaking me out.

Wow, THAT kind of inappropriate? Yikes! Now I see why you’re freaked. Perhaps I should send my hoard of Plot Monkeys to scare that Plot Bunny off? Haha.

Yeah THAT kind… I’m not even sure your Monkeys can wrangle this one, it’s being that obscene and determined. But you could always try 😉
