2013 Book Pre-Orders

There are some books I just must have on their release dates every year. Either they’re part of a series I’m in-love with or by an author I like a whole lot and want to show my support for. Usually there’s about 10-20 of them and last year I did pretty great at not buying that many more books outside of my pre-order purchases. As my TBR pile continues to live over a hundred, I hope to be even stricter with my purchases this year. So far this year, I plan on pre-ordering the following:

pre-orders

Paper Valentine by Brenna Yovanoff

The Archived by Victoria Schwab

Clockwork Princess (Infernal Devices, Book 3) by Cassandra Clare

Inferno (Chronicles of Nick, Book 4) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

The Dark-Hunters: Infinity, Vol. 1 by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Dead River by Cyn Balog

The Rules by Stacey Kade

Icons by Margaret Stohl

School Spirits by Rachel Hawkins

The Lost Sun: Book 1 of United States of Asgard by Tessa Gratton

Styxx (Dark-Hunter, Book 18?) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

*Not all of these books have covers yet*

I know there will be more, like Maggie Stiefvater’s Requiem, but there isn’t an active link/release date for it yet. I imagine a lot of the fall 2013 releases haven’t popped up yet so there will likely be a part 2 of this further into the year.

What books are you most looking forward to in 2013? Do you pre-order?

September Books In My Mailbox

There were a lot of pre-orders in September and one of the October pre-orders shipped early. Plus, I ordered two additional books because they were so incredibly cheap on discount, I couldn’t resist. This will be the last big month of books for the year as I only have one pre-order left for the end of October. It’s hard to believe I’ll receive nothing until Christmas after that. It kind of makes me sad, but I do still have plenty to read and with the holidays approaching my time will be largely occupied anyway. So, onto September books, yes?

September Books

The Blood Keeper (Blood Journals, Book 2) by Tessa Gratton

The Hunger Games Official Illustrated Movie Guide

Foxfire (Other, Book 3) by Karen Kincy

Watcher in the Woods (Dreamhouse Kings, Book 2) by Robert Liparulo

The Raven Boys (Raven Cycle, Book 1) by Maggie Stiefvater

Hidden (Firelight, Book 3) by Sophie Jordan

You guys get anything good in September?

2011 In Review: Books

Like so many of my goals this year, I even failed at meeting my reading goal. The only true thing I accomplished this year in regards to books was reducing the amount I acquired. Reading requires time and sadly time is something I had very little of this year. Also, I’m not a fan of reading a book that takes me a month of more to complete. If I can’t start and finish it in a week’s time (which is still pushing it honestly) then there’s no point in starting it at all for me.

However, despite not meeting my goal for the year, I did read quite a few awesome books. The list below reflects the order in which I’d rate them, the first being the best and the last being the worst (although none of them were actually horrible reads – picking a favorite was actually hard). At some point in the middle of the year I started writing mini reviews for all the books I was reading via GoodReads so if there is a review available for the book, I’ve made the title a link to my GoodReads page. Check them out, you might find a book worth reading. Feel free to ask me about any of the books that don’t have reviews. I’d be more than happy to share why I did or didn’t love it!

*BOOKS*

So it’s been 4 months since my last book purchase post… guess it’s about time I finally blabber about all the new ones I’ve received since then. I’m astonished this year by my ability to only buy the necessities. Last time we talked books I had only bought 13 in the first 4 months of the year. This time I’ve only bought 10! To say this is a major improvement in comparison to my book splurging in 2010 would be an understatement.

Anyway, here are the books I’ve bought in the past 4 months: Blood Magic (Blood Journals, Book 1) by Tessa Gratton, Impossible by Nancy Werlin, Before, After, and Somebody in Between by Jeannine Garsee, Cracked Up to Be by Courtney Summers, Fins are Forever (Fins, Book 2) by Tera Lynn Childs, Passion (Fallen, Book 3) by Lauren Kate, Rampant (Killer Unicorns, Book 1) by Diana Peterfreund, Forever (Wolves at Mercy Falls, Book 3) by Maggie Stiefvater, Retribution (Dark-Hunter, Book 20) by Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Of those books, I’ve already read Blood Magic, Cracked Up to Be, Fins are Forever, Passion, Forever, and Retribution — all of which were pretty darn great, if not fantastic. I’m currently reading Rampant and it totally rocks already! I’ve been trying to get into the habit of commenting on finished books over on my Goodreads page. If you’re interested in reading any of those “reviews” click HERE. Feel free to add me too if you’re on Goodreads.

Oh, I also downloaded Dream Dark: A Beautiful Creatures Story by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl which I plan to read next. Guess that technically counts, even though I can’t show you a picture of owning it (being digital and all). The cover was really pretty though, see:

All of the remaining books I must have for the rest of the year have already been pre-ordered, but I’ll wait until they all arrive and do the last book post of the year in December. What books have you guys purchased in the last 4 months or read for that matter?

Peace – Sarah
