I call her “Candi”

Remember last week when I was all “Woe Is Me” blah, blah, blah? Well, I wouldn’t say I’m completely in a better place, but some of my complaints have been resolved which already makes this week better than last.

Since the number one issue was regarding concerts and that complaint will never be resolved we’ll just skip it altogether and start with my number two complaint: The dying machine known as my old truck. “Old” now because….

I Got a New One! *SQUEE*

It’s a 2009 Ford Escape and the color is called Sangria, but it looks more like a shimmery candy apple in person so I’ve named her “Candi.” I have to admit for as troubled as I was over having to get a new vehicle at all and how stressed having an additional car payment will make me, I’m rather in-love with her. I can’t believe she’s actually mine, all shiny and new and perfect!

Speaking of… Candi (though this time a character with this name from Candi Comics by Starlight X Hodge) sort of helped me read again. Maybe not entirely, but I did read the entire webcomic last week from start to current (years’ worth of art and fun) alongside two other real books. I had started reading Bloodborn (Other, Book 2) by Karen Kincy a while ago and was finally able to finish that. Then I started and finished reading After Obsession by Carrie Jones & Steven Wedel. My thoughts on both of these books can be read on my Goodreads page. I’m currently reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. So I guess my “I don’t read anymore” mentality is over. YAY!

And lastly, writing… the thought that never leaves my brain. I’m not saying I’ve suddenly produced something magnificent (because I definitely haven’t), but I have realized something that was brought to my attention last year by a friend and I pretended couldn’t be true. If this year has proven anything, it’s that they were right. I am a seasonal writer. Meaning, I might produce something here and there during summer or spring, but I get the writing bug in fall and winter and this is when I’m most apt to complete something of value. Shoot, just even writing blogs is easier during these months. I have no idea why, so don’t bother asking, but after some evaluation of the facts, I’m pretty positive this is the case. So with that being said, I’m giving a lot of thought to NanoWrimo this year. I’ve never participated before, but maybe it’d be the perfect thing for me to officially launch myself back into writing for the season I write the best in. I have plenty of potential story ideas to use… now just to pick which one feels like I might be able to pump out 50K words for it in 30 days…. Hmmmm.

Until Next Time – Sarah

Will have to check out the books you mentioned. I’m like the guy in good will hunting. The scene when R.Williams and Will meet for the first time and Will says something like–“I can’t believe you people–you always surround yourself with all the wrong books.” and Robin Williams character, not knowing what he means says–“what are the right ones will?” Will means–people need to pick books that speak to them, and I’ve only recently started doing that. My wife picks on me, because I have too many books–the reason I have too many is because the majority are crap–I collected books just to have books. The best way to get inspired to write is to write, that’s what I think (as a side note)

I’m going to try nanowritmo–the Cannonball Run of writing. I grew up in a christian boys home ‘Faith Home–a christian home for boys’ and had many an adventure there–might write about that.

I like the car–I want one. I have a truck–you’re only the second person in my life I’ve ever met who’s named there car. The other person was an old friend in England. Hope you don’t mind me commenting on your post. Check out my journal–it’s worthless, but I love music and am always listening to something wierd.

Music & Books usually inspire me to write more than just trying to write, though my mind can conjure up its own crazy ideas without much aid of outside sources on occasion. Ha!

Writing based on your childhood experiences for NanoWrimo sounds like a great idea. It’s always easiest to write “what you know.” Good Luck!

I don’t always name my vehicles. This is only the 4th one I’ve ever own and only one of the previous ones had a name. I did however always consider my vehicles in male form, but this latest truck screams “girl” to me so much she had to have a name, and one as fancy as “Candi” 😉

I love how you named your truck Candi! Makes me feel like an honorary aunt or something, since I’m the one who exposed you to its namesake. XD

So great to see you reading again! I can’t wait to read After Obsession myself–glad to see you gave it a positive review!

Also, good luck with NaNo, if you do go through with it! It can be very crazifying, but it doesn’t make it any less fun, haha.

LOL @ “honorary Aunt” — YES! You definitely are!

I’m pretty sure with the way you love Carrie Jones, it wouldn’t have mattered if I thought After Obsession was good! HA! But I’m pretty positive you’ll love it like I did. :)

Thanks for the luck on Nano. From chat you already know how gung-ho I am about it. Thank God I’ll have you to cheer me on when it starts to get REALLY crazy. :)

Hah, true. I’d still plan to read AO even if you said it was the worst book ever. XD

Even though I won’t be doing NaNo this year, I looked up your profile page on their website! I would’ve added you as a buddy, but they apparently changed the site since I last visited, and I no longer have a clue as to how. :/ (I see they’ve listed the writing buddies feature as something “coming soon,” even though it used to be there, soooo…hopefully the feature will work later!) Anyway, good luck again with NaNo, since I know how excited you are for it! 😀

First that’s a neat truck you got there :)
Second I’m glad I’m not the only one gearing for Nano (even though I have numerous decent reasons not to). I hope you make it. If you need a list of buddies, Akoss is really easy to find. Even if you don’t win I’m sure you will get something out of it FOR SURE.
Oh and again nice truck. Can I have it?

      Re: sweet

Thanks, she is rather awesome, isn’t she? I figured a week later the excitement of a new truck might have started to wear off, but every time I look out the window and see her I still get excited that she’s mine. Haha!

As for Nano… I signed up, but I can’t figure out how to search for people and “add buddies.” Care to point me in the right direction?

        Re: sweet

As of right now the writing buddy feature is not active yet. They say it will be before Nov 1st. When it does that’s where you can add people. Until then what’s your screen name?
