2011 In Review: Books

Like so many of my goals this year, I even failed at meeting my reading goal. The only true thing I accomplished this year in regards to books was reducing the amount I acquired. Reading requires time and sadly time is something I had very little of this year. Also, I’m not a fan of reading a book that takes me a month of more to complete. If I can’t start and finish it in a week’s time (which is still pushing it honestly) then there’s no point in starting it at all for me.

However, despite not meeting my goal for the year, I did read quite a few awesome books. The list below reflects the order in which I’d rate them, the first being the best and the last being the worst (although none of them were actually horrible reads – picking a favorite was actually hard). At some point in the middle of the year I started writing mini reviews for all the books I was reading via GoodReads so if there is a review available for the book, I’ve made the title a link to my GoodReads page. Check them out, you might find a book worth reading. Feel free to ask me about any of the books that don’t have reviews. I’d be more than happy to share why I did or didn’t love it!

You may think you “failed” your reading goal, but I’m impressed by this list, especially since quite a few of them are biggies, like The Mortal Instruments series. Be proud about what you read this year! :)

After hearing you rave about Warm Bodies the past couple days, I can’t wait to check it out myself sometime. It sounds amazing!

I’m so happy to see DOTM so high on your list! My inner fangirl is squeeing right now, haha. So glad you liked it and weren’t all, “WTF?! Why does Heather like this?!”

Some of the books in your list are currently in my TBR pile, so I can’t wait to see what I think of them myself!

And whoo, FLG! So fun to see my own book listed here! *hee*

You already know what my 2011 reading list looks like, so I won’t reiterate that here. 😉

Yeah TMI Series are monster sized books. I still have the two Infernal Device books in that world to read, but they’re just as big and therefore intimidating me.

I really hope you do get to read Warm Bodies and sooner rather than later, but knowing that your TBR pile is over 100 books makes me think it will probably be a while. Whenever you do get to it though, I hope you enjoy it like I did!

I really, really hope another DOTM volume is released soon. I definitely see why you love this series so much and Lynne as writer overall!

Also, I can’t wait til I can add FLG to my reading list again — when it’s actually published! Such an awesome book! :)

Ever since you started raving to me about Warm Bodies, I’ve been seeing so many others from my Flist gush about it, too. Not sure how soon I’ll read it, but I may cave and buy it sooner rather than later since it seems to be getting so much love, haha. I’m so curious to see if I’ll feel the same about it!
